Use programme-level language checks
ERT's official ERTFLIX FAQ describes subtitle choices and selected accessibility content marked with captions or audio description. This is a useful public-broadcaster reference for understanding the controls, not a statement about a separate service's catalogue. Check the relevant programme page and playback menu rather than relying on a general platform description.
Give accessibility its own test
If captions are essential, try a complete scene with multiple speakers and background sound. Check Greek characters, text contrast and whether the controls cover the bottom line. For audio description, verify that the desired track can be selected on the device the viewer will actually use.
Match installation instructions to the television
ERT's device guidance separates smart-TV apps from hybrid HbbTV access and other device categories. Use the same discipline when choosing your player: establish the operating system, model and official store first. An Android installation guide is not a universal guide for every television sold under a familiar brand.
Check an older screen carefully
Search the current store listing on the television itself and compare its requirements with your software version. Note the store country if the app is missing. A supported external device may be worth considering, but test its remote and audio connections before deciding to replace a television that otherwise works.
Test where the family will watch
If the setup moves between an apartment and another home, each location deserves its own network check. Run a trial during your usual viewing period, with ordinary household internet use. Test one stream first and distinguish a weak connection from a problem affecting just one programme or audio track.
Turn observations into a clear request
Send support your exact model, player, preferred language tracks and any accessibility needs. Confirm essential content before paying and choose simultaneous connections based on overlapping viewing. Keep the player licence, subscription confirmation and device purchase separate so future questions reach the right place.
Your practical checklist
- Name Greek audio and subtitle preferences separately.
- Check captions or audio description per programme.
- Verify the current TV app and model support.
- Test each intended viewing location.
What to record

One question to settle
Should I use television app instructions or HbbTV instructions?
Use the instructions for the route you actually open. ERT distinguishes these options, and a separate IPTV player has its own installation requirements.
